What is a third place? Created by sociologist Ray Oldenburg in his 1989 book The Great Good Place, the term "third place" refers to the social surroundings that are separate from the two usual social environments of home (first place) and work (second place). Third places are "anchors of community life" that facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction; in short, your third place is where you relax in public, where you encounter familiar faces and make new acquaintances.

Moving forward, I hope to showcase some of my favorite Third Places in the city but plan to commit to the following:

1) No cover charge to get in

2) Come as you are

3) There will always be non-alcoholic options as well as food available onsite
