Welcome!
Each month we get together,
To throw down on the dance floor.
Familiar faces warm into friendships,
Cultivating community and aliveness.
These boundaries make space for us to feel at ease:
1. No drinks on the dance floor
2. No phones on the dance floor (we will have designated phones for promo/memories)
3. Love and respect everywhere
4. Face each other, not the DJ
Dress to express, dress to sweat, and come as you are.
If price of the event is preventing you from attending, contact @thegettogether.nyc
It is highly encouraged that you come for the dance class if you haven't been before. We will be practice body lvnguage style consent, finding your beat and rhythm, group dance, finding your edges, finding comfort, and finding release.

About Ryan Ong
I am a queer gender agnostic Chinese new yorker, a lifelong dancer, and a casual meditation and mindfulness practitioner for 15 years. My practice centers around aligning the unconscious and the conscious mind through movement, boundaries, and wonder. I love to hold space, get people dancing, and getting people in their body. Movement has been a life-giving practice for me, and I want to share it with my community.
About Jess Here
I grew up on three continents then at age 19 I moved to NYC to study dance at The Ailey School. I’ve been dancing and singing the entire length of my memory. After graduating, I spent a season materializing my musical visions. I supported myself by working in nightlife. Simultaneously, because pain is an effective teacher, I studied Gyrokinesis, earned my trainer’s license, and have rejuvenated a wide variety of bodies. All of these paths have led me to the decks. When I DJ, I construct a temporary autonomous zone- designed to hold us while we embrace ourselves, traverse our kinetic and mental crevices, rodeo in the undercurrent, or just float around in the atmosphere. I’m here, and right now i’m on the lookout for floors to break and bodies to rock, let’s dance!
Need something? The Get Together Crew is armed with pink light bands and ready to support.
The Get Together dances in the spirit of The Get Down Party, powered by BODY LVNGUAGE.
Produced by Ryan Ong and Jess Here, and in partnership with Tasha Blank
This is a queer + gender non-conforming + POC produced + centered event. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
When we talk about love + respect, that includes CONSENT:
Please ask for consent before touching anybody. You can ask verbally, by offering a hand as an invitation, or otherwise clear body language.
“No” can be communicated with words, a bow, prayer hands, turning away, crisscrossed arms or anything else that signals that you’re not available for connection right now.
If you receive a no, that means the person you’ve asked is taking care of themselves. Rather than taking it personally, we encourage you to practice celebrating their courage, honesty and self care.
A yes can be verbal, a nod or the return of body language that’s been extended. A yes does not mean yes to anything or everything. It is a yes to what’s being offered at this moment, and it can be revoked at any time.
We do not tolerate racism, sexism, classism, misogyny, misgendering, transphobia, ableism, or fat phobia. Ask for pronouns if you don’t know them. Be aware that words and actions can have different context for people of different backgrounds—think about the language you’re using and have a conversation if you’re unsure.
If consent is violated or any bigotry is expressed the survivor will be centered and supported. The violator will be expelled immediately, being in this space is a privilege. If you are expelled and would like to come back, please email us at contact @thegettogether.nyc of the event organizers to go through an accountability and acculturation process.
